Site background
After years of use as an unregistered and uncontrolled landfill site in the 1970s and 1980s, the vacant land off Billet Road is contaminated.
Beneath the surface, there is a variety of materials from reworked nature soils, builders waste, bottles, plastic and some hydrocarbons.
The site is currently allocated for redevelopment in Redbridge Council’s Local Plan to provide new homes.
However, before any new homes can be built, enabling works to remediate the landfill and clean up the local environment needs to take place.
Bellway Homes has recently acquired part of the overall land off Billet Road that is allocated by Redbridge Council for new homes.
